I saw that the Inspiron 1520 has the option for 4 GB ram. Would all of it even be usable?

Santa Rosa notebooks like the Dell 1520 can use 4gb of ram with a 64-bit OS(you probably wont need 4gbs of ram though).

Also dont buy ram from dell since it is expensive.Look at the hot ram deals thread for great prices on ram.

All 4GB would be if you install a x64 OS, but if you only use the OS that comes with it (which would be x86) then it would be 3.25GB to 3.5GB depending on your system configuration.

Why would dell sell a system with 32bit OS that has 4gb of ram if it isnt usable?
