    3rd Nvidia 7900GS GO in the mail, how do I keep this one alive?

    I've got the e1705 with Nvidia 7900gs (single cooling pipe) that consistently fails after 12 months of use as seen. It's a
    well
    known
    issue

    Anyway, I've burned through two already (second one only took an hour) and the third one's in the mail. Since I'd rather not rock the 90day warranty into infinity, what can I do to keep this one alive? ("don't do 3d on it" is not an valid answer) I've seen posts about a fan-controller override. I've seen posts about adding some thermal paste. Any other hacks to keep this next one from cooking itself.


    Conspiracy Postscript:
    I think Dell is just taking the broken cards that are shipped back, running inadequate tests that determine "yup, displays graphics" and shipping them back out again at $350 a pop.
