Which do you think would be best overall for my M1530?

What I really need to know is how much a difference the rpm makes.

If 5400 is good enough I'll stick with that. If 7200 is noticeably better I'll get the smaller one and buy an external one as well.

    Thanks

    The 320 5400 rpm is faster. it's equivalent to a 200gb 7200rpm HDD. So get that =).

    Wait, what? Are you joking?

How can 5400 rpm be faster than 7200rpm?

Simply put the 320GB will be faster by about 10-15% from the benchmarks i've seen because of the higher data density.

It's because even when the harder spins slowly, since the data is closer it can read it faster.

    Right, that's very good thanks.

Just to make 100% sure. With the 320gb 5400rpm games will loads faster and it will be quicker on start up than the 160gb 7200rpm?

Obviously you won't know for sure but that is what you would expect?

Yes, games will load faster and start up will be quicker with the 320GB.

If you want to see exact numbers, there are many hdtune benchmarks floating around this site. According to them, the 320GB one will be about 10% faster than the 160GB 7200rpm hard drive.
