Which version is used in Dell Inspirons, Studios, and XPS?

Which is the better choice, 32 or 64 bit?

hey there dell only installs 32 bit vista on their systems but if you get business or ultimate editions the disc they send you does have 64 bit on it, you just have to do a clean install. If you got home premium....download it using a torrent, burn it to a dvd, and your ready to go

As for the question of which is better.....id say 64 bit....i just installed it yesterday and it def. seems quicker

Not to be rude but this question pops up almost weekly. There is no answer of which one is better. If you order from Dell you get to choose which OS is available. As for which one is better.. read the hundreds of previous posts and decide for yourself.

Remember if you want the 1730, then the touchpad drivers are non-existant for 64-bit. The good thing about 64-bit is it supports up to 8GB of RAM, or in the current state, it means your laptop is able to max out the 4GB of RAM and actually use it all instead of 3.5GB.

There have been increased 64-bit support, but its not really all up there yet. I recommend sticking with 32-bit.

Basically is what Forte stated, and a 64 Bit version would handle 1028GB of RAM, also the data transfer is faster in a 64 bit edition, and the bad thing about 64 bit version that every program has to be coded in 64 bits, and you might not find all the programs that you use for that windows, Just stick with 32 bit and 3 GB of RAM.

n ot really, 32bit apps can run in 64bit, just like 16bit apps can run in32bit... just not 100% supported

Vista x64 runs compatibility services and what not to work with 32bit programs. Granted it doesn't work for every 32bit program but it's a lot harder to find a program that isn't supported within 64bit now than it used to be.
