So I ordered 3 Vostro 1310's about 2 weeks ago. Then one got cancelled, and a new order number popped up. No problem. Then, the next day, all of them are cancelled. I thought, it must be normal, and I'll get new order numbers soon. Not the case.

Status update on my 3 orders: All still cancelled with no explanation (ordered 2 weeks ago)

I called in a week ago and they said they cancelled because of a discrepency between the address on my credit card on file, and the one I used online. No biggie, the problem was rectified on the phone and they said theyd straighten it out right away.

Fast forward 3 days later, still no status update. So I called them again, and got connected to a very nice agent that was utterly confused at why my orders were still cancelled. He couldn't decipher why, so he has contacted my original sales rep (from india of course), for further details as to why they're cancelled.

Another 3 days has gone by, still nothing. I called again and they tell me that the sales rep hasn't responded since, and that nothing can be done by Customer Service.

This is getting kind of ridiculous now. I'm out of ideas, they said they could do nothing for me outside of contacting my original sales rep. Any other ideas guys?

Unless you got some extra discounts from a sales rep, why not just order again?

...thus proving Dell blows in the "Customer Support" department.

I advise you to just keep em canceled and switch to some other more "Helpful" Laptop Manufacturer.

EDIT:....why'd you order from INDIA! if you live in Canada...??

call centers are all located in india, because of the low wage rate.

Its okay, i had to order 4 and cancel 3 of them and although i just needed 1, our situations are similar, they are CONFUSED and they dont know what to do so they cancel it..

BTW, if your billing address and credit card doesn't match up, after 3 days or so they WILL cancel it without your permission..

Teriyaki, I feel your pain. I just went through a similar ordeal with Dell Canada and it ended in me finally cancelling the order because nobody knew what they were doing.

Also, get used to the indian call center representatives, because all calls going to Dell from Canada will be going there after today.

You must have been red-flagged due to the billing address being different. Ordering 3 systems with incorrect billing information will set off alarms.

I don't understand. I am in Canada. If I call Dell Customer Service, will I be directed to a centre in India?

That is correct. Previously, you'd be connected with a canadian contact centre, however now those calls will be directed to India or the Philippines. Dell claims that this is to "streamline operations" and "reduce head-count". Personally, I think that it is ridiculous to put so many people out of a job and just re-route all of the calls to another country.

Exploitation of low income countries will continue until they become a big enough economic power that they begin to establish minimum wage and worker rights laws.

You can google reports on the high suicide and turnover rate of 2nd and 3rd world country call center employes, its really terrible.

Update: I finally got an order successfully placed a few days ago with a very nice customer rep from Ontario. :) Too bad that my final ship date has been pushed back 2 weeks because of all the delays. Oh, not to mention the price has been bumped up on all the systems because the original config is no longer attainable
