    2nd Reformat problem with 6400

    Ok I reformated my 6400 when i got it without any problems, but now i wanted to reformate it again, i try the first time it never passed the "instaling applications" screen that falshes in some colors, then when i tried again, i tried to delete the windows partiton and it says that i can because it has some temprary files that will be used for setup. What can i do? please help!!

    You need to make sure that you are booting from the disc and not the HDD. When you insert the disc, make sure to completely reboot the laptop. Then press F12 as soon as you see the Dell logo, and select the cd/dvd drive.

    If you select the option to format while you are in XP, it installs temp. files on your HDD and will not allow you to format properly.
