Have just bought a 17R 5720 from the outlet site. However, it only comes with 4GB ram which I would like to increase it to 6GB or 8GB?

As far as I can make out I need DDR3-1600 SODIMM 2RX8 Non-ECC or equivalent?

Can anybody please advise if this the right ram and the best place to get them in the UK?

Depending on the current dimm configuration (single 4gb or dual 2gb) you may need only one stick, or two.
Either way any DDR3-1600 SODIMM which you can get from any PC store or ebay.

I think they have ebay in UK as well. But you should ask yourself what are you going to benefit from 6-8gigs? Are you doing video process and multimedia or just games or CAD or Server? I think 4gig for the majority will work for most daily task. What you should look at is the O/S that you will be using on it as well. Memory isn't the only thing that will limit your growth.

I concur, unless you know that you're going to be RAM limited in whatever you do, you should consider saving the money or putting it towards an SSD (if you don't already have one).
