Does this graphics card effect the battery life at all? Meaning, when I am doing things like just surfing the internet will this card effect the batter more then like say the 128mb ATI Radeon? Thanks a lot.

Is it a considerable amount? Meaning, if you didn't use the computer that much for high graphics gaming (I only really play Tiger and Madden), would you go with the 128mb card instead? Does it make that much of a difference? I appreciate the response.

It uses a tad more but nothing to be worried about (it uses about 30 secs to a minute more worth of juice). Meaning, a 128 card machine will last 30 secs longer on a battery. I read this some where and cannot confirm 100%.

    Get the 256 card.

it uses more power, but compared to what it does as opposed to the ati radeon card, its a no brainer, go with the 6800 card, it can handle anything you throw at it, you cant say the same of the ati radeon card.
I get three hours of battery life on my 9300 with the 6800 go card while on battery, sometimes three and a half depending on what I am doing, really, i seldom use the battery but three hours to three and a half on a 9 cell battery with a 17 inch lcd screen is pretty dam good and plenty of time for a business meeting, class or other presentation. People tend to obsess about battery time alot, but unless you spend several days a week at the airport and or on an airplane there's a good chan ce you wont find yourself more than twenty feet from an ac outlet to plug your laptop into anyways so go for the performance of the 6800 card which is not obselete going out the gate like the ati x300 card is.

When I had the I9300 w/ 6800 card, I could play Civ3 for about 2-3 hours on battery power. Then again, Civ doesn't require much power from the video card. Also, I was using a 9 cell battery.
