This monitor works fine as a monitor only. But for some reason when I plug in the usb cable from it to my pc.It does not work. It shows up as "unknown device" and I'm using windows 7 and I cannot find anything for it. I've found some drivers but I have no idea how to use them. Its just some files within a zip file and I tried following their instructions about using "run" and typing folder path but that doesn't do anything.

Have you plugged anything to that hub before plugging the cable from the monitor to the laptop? I am sure all Dell monitor hubs are PnP but they need something plugged into it first for Windows 7 properly detect it.

I've got two Dell monitors whose hubs are detected perfectly fine as hubs even when nothing is plugged into them. You shouldn't need any drivers or anything (so don't let Windows Update tell you otherwise).

I've had a few USB ports go bad on various Dell monitors over the years. Might want to RMA that one.

More reasons to RMA my monitor then since it only gets detected when you have something plug into it (on top of the massive light bleeding).

hm. I just tried it (plugging a flash drive in to every port then leaving it in, then plugging the main cord into the PC) still says USB not recognized
