well dell has finally revealed the 2012 line of inspirons but i got a few issues with them
    1) y would dell remove the number pad its been there on the 15r since forever
    2) speaker placement they could have put it on top

    stuff i like
    1) i like the look overall
    2) seems to have good specs especially the 15/17r special editions

what are your takes on the new inspirons

Theyre a lot nicer than most of the Inspiron models that shipped after the xx20 days. I actually wouldnt mind one of these which says a lot. :)

Of course though, no high resolution screen option = no sale. Sorry Dell.

the inspiron 15/17r special editon comes with aluminum finish, skull candy speakers, back lite keyboard and 1080P FHD i think it is ips ...... the special edition is a higher end inspiron

I doubt that the FHD 1920x1080 anti-glare panel on the Inspiron 15R Special Edition is IPS. If it is as awesome as the one used on the current XPS 15 L502X (and the ThinkPad T520/W520), I will be very pleased.

No numeric keypad is good: I prefer the keyboard to be centered, not shifted to the left.

In general, this year's Inspiron (and XPS) models look really nice.

na man i like my number pad as i do programming and kinda got use to it being there on the desktop and my current laptop i also assign game function there
the new xps isnt out yet i haven't seen them announce it or pics of it

as for the anti-glare screen i will not be as good as the xps sorry the xps screen is R+B+G led back-lite which is one of the best screen you can buy remember inspiron is a budget system so the best screens will be for XPS / thinkpads ... as they are in a higher price bracket .... but it should be a decent panel

correction the 15/17 r SE is replacing the current XPS so the displays should be excellent and the skull candy speakers should sound good and the new XPS is moving upmarket and is getting thinner

I like my 17R, the newer one, it's been a great machine! I can't complain. :D THe newest machines look sweet though, yet I really am not motivated to get a new one, I am enjoying the 17R I've got, my mother is still enjoying the Dell Mini 1012 and my DH is enjoying his 1121, or 11z that he got earlier this year. ALl good machines. :) Thanks for sharing the link! :D

The new layout (7520) has the USB and Power connections on the side which is a shame, they kept cables out of the way when on the back of the last model (5110).

Other than that, I will be looking to get a 15R with 3rd Gen i5 and use the built in HD4000 graphics.
