    Hey,
I recently placed a order for a XPS M1330. I had to get it configured for under $1500 including tax.

I Originally had the T7500 2.2g and the 160g HD at 7200RPM, The sales rep said i had to drop one in order for it to be $1500.

I wanted to drop to the T7250 2.0 and keep the 7200rpm but the sales rep convinced me to keep the T7500 and drop the HD to 160gb at 5400RPM.

I just want to know if i made the right decision because i can still call and change it.

    Thanks

You can always upgrade the HDD easily at a relatively low cost without voiding warranty, quite the opposite with processor upgrades. Even though the HDD upgrade would have given you better overall performance for the moment I would have done the same (choose CPU over HDD); given the extra 4MB cache of T7500 and upgrade options (as mentioned before).

yup, the CPU would be a pain to upgrade at a later date, but the HDD will take a whole 2 minutes! ;)

Yeah i know! He even gave me an additional $75 off even after i already used a coupon for $300 off so i can keep everything else i configured.
So i can put it on my DPA because you cant use a credit card for the excess amount if you're using a DPA.

Anyway Thanks for all your help everyone!

I'm just happy i made the right decision!

I'm assuming you are in the US, you can get HDD from here.

This is the M1330 service manual the explains how change the hard drive and do anything else to the laptop!

What CPU would you have had to take in order to keep the 7200 RPM HDD?

read the 1st post carefully! it says he had the choice of a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo and a 160GB 5400rpm HDD OR a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo and a 160GB 7200rpm HDD.

    The T7250 2.0/2mb of l2 cache with a 160gb HHD at 7200rpm or The T7500 2.2/ 4mb with a 1600gb HDD at 5400rpm

    Ah, my mistake.

Anyway, I feel that you should opt for the 7200 RPM HDD. The difference between a 2.0 GHz C2D and 2.2 GHz C2D aren't going to be noticeable in everyday tasks. Having the faster HDD, however, will give you a higher performance gain when opening applications, and booting.

Thanks, But I think i am just going to upgrade the HDD on my own now that i know how simple it is to it and thanks to H3rmaN i found the HDD 7200 rpm for a similar price that i was going to pay for the upgrade anyway.
Like i said before the only reason i couldn't take both was because DELL doesn't let you put any excess amount on a credit card or any other kind of payment for that matter if you're using a DPA but Now i could have both! Thanks!
