    2 questions about my laptop

    Ok i have a older dell laptop... I got it new from dell a few years back well many years back... It hasnt turned on in like 5-6 years. We use to trip over the cord like all the time and it stopped charging wont even except power at all. i know somthing needs to be replaced... the cord is fine. its the jack in the lap top is crazy loose and the jack it self wiggle like mad .... what do i do? i like to do this kinda stuff what am in for? the second question is my dell ran on xp home now about 1 day before it lost all its charge it went back to windows 98 for some reason why would this be?

    If the Jack is loose then you will have disassemble the notebook and solder the contacts of the jack back on to the motherboard, maybe the jack is damaged beyond repair. After that long, Iā€™m pretty sure the battery is not usable anymore. In any case it is not worth spending your time or money on such an old computer. Forget it.

    You have to be a very good solderer otherwise it still wont work. Most people will replace the motherboard to correct the problem, however as others have said its probably not worth it. You could probably sell the screen on ebay and thats about it as the rest of the parts are most likely next to worthless.

    im not really sure what model it is its been so long since i seen it but i was planning of digging it out of the archives and looking into fixing it and maby putting it up for sale the thing is i had it for about 3 months then it broke and i remember dell giving me a nast problem thats why i never had it fixed there service sucked then....so i figured i would fix it and maby trade for a gokart or somthingget a few $ out of it if i fixed it its like brand new never really used.... just had a bunch of kids around the house that didnt watch where they were going and ripped it out of the jack a few hundred times

    well its a 5150 and i found out it is the jack problem and the computer was new it was only a few months old when it went off im gonna try to fix it its already all apart
