Now that Dell has put the 60G 7200 HD back in the 6000d configuration list, I think I will pull the trigger before the $800 coupon expires tomorrow. I do have two questions I hope to get feedback on. 1. This will be 80% of the time sitting on my desk and I plan to use an external monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. Can I operate the laptop with the case closed just like you would dock a typical business laptop? And ff not, will the display fold all the way back so I could place the laptop under a monitor stand? 2nd, all these post on display types really has me confused. I have not seen anything similiar at the retail stores to compare and wonder if by setting my current PC display to 1024X768 gives me an idea to what the WSXGA might look like. I really want the WSXGA but I usually have my display set at 800X600. Can I make the WSXGA configured to be readable for these middle aged eyes? Thanks for your comments

1. Can I operate the laptop with the case closed
In Control Panel, under Power Options > Advanced, you can change the setting "When I close the lid of my portable computer" from Standby to Do Nothing. Then, you can operate the 6000d when it's connected to a monitor.
2. will the display fold all the way back so I could place the laptop under a monitor stand?
The display can fold back completely flat, but it's still raised about 1.25" off whatever surface it's on.
3. Can I make the WSXGA configured to be readable for these middle aged eyes?
I have my resolution set to 1280x800 which made the text and icons too small for me to read comfortably, but then I set the DPI to custom (108 dpi) and I like it a lot. You can enlarge the size of just the fonts too.
800x600 is still an option, although it's stretched to widescreen. Doesn't look too bad, though. It just looks really BIG on such a generous display.
I don't know what's too small for you, but I bet the WSXGA wouldn't be unreadable to your eyes. -
Just to clarify, there would have to be a gap of at least 1.6" between your desk and the underside of your monitor stand.

I like the wsxga+ screen for myself. If your vision is not the greatest then I would recomend the wxga. It is smaller than the 1024x768 and if your normal setting are 800X600 then go with the wxga.

If you're going to do that just get a desktop. Much more bang for your buck.
