    Hi!

I bought two 'Kingston Value RAM' cards to upgrade my ram from 1gb to 2gb. The model number of the cards is KVR667D2S5/1G.

The person from whom I bought them said that they're good for Inspiron 6000, 9300 and E1705. These cards were new & sealed in their packages.

So, following the instructions, I took out the original cards and installed the new ones.

When I turned on my computer, the 'A' (Cap Locks) icon on the top center/left side of the keyboard flashed and then the computer shut down. I tried again a couple of times and the same thing happened.

I thought I might have done things incorrectly so I took the new cards out and reinstalled the old ones and the computer started up right away.

    Any ideas?

Either you got messed up ram, or ram not capable for your PC.

Did you buy them off some guy or from a store? Sounds like you have a pair of duds or incompatible set. If a store then return them. If some guy then hopefully you know that person.

This is the memory that comes up as compatible with the i9300....

    Suitable memory

Honestly? The cards are compatible (otherwise they wouldn't have fit)...but you were sold duds.

Did you try taking out the new sticks and then reinstall them? It could be that when you took them out and put in the old RAM that the old RAM was seated properly.

I have added RAM before and it was not completely seated in the slot which caused it not to be recognized.

    Hi!

Thank you and all those who responded. It was encouraging to see that I could get some help from many of you.

Jakpro, I wish to thank you for reminding me of the fact that maybe I didn't seat the sticks correctly. I figured that I must have but when I tried again, everything is working great now.

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!
