Hi, I'm using an XPS M1210. I'm just wondering if upgrading from 1gb to 2gb RAM would make any notable difference in performance. For example, now that I've upgraded to Vista, things aren't as speedy as XP. Also, would this make any difference to gaming (I have the Intel 945 card - and am a very causal gamer)?

    Many thanks.

If you are looking for speed upgrading to 2GB in Vista will make a big difference.

Vista requires more RAM to run smoother so yeah it will make a difference. I run vista with 2gb and runs real well.

Thanks for the assistance. Would it make any difference to gaming? I'm not interested in better graphics, just smoother game-play. Thanks.

1GB to 2GB upgrade is the sweet spot currently as far as price and performance gains. You won't regret it. It'll make a difference in everything from boot-up times to gaming.

the smoother game play depends on the system requirements of the game. if it recommends more than the RAM u currently have then u cud expect some improvement. otherwise the graphics card is the limiting factor to ur smooth gameplay issue

As already noted, your graphics card, depending on the game, will be your bottleneck, not necessarily your RAM.

Vista seems to love 2gb of ram.. for me atleast.

Everything seems faster, faster then xp for boot times, firefox now launches instantly.. 2gb definetly worth it!

I think it is safe to say that you won’t notice much of a difference in games under Vista even with 2GB RAM, because GMA950 is too weak.
