    Wow....

It's amazing how far we've come in computer technology in such a short amount of time. Technology in general I guess.

I can remember when I was in middle school, my dad's company bought a Kaypro. This thing was supposed to be a "portable" computer, but it weight like 40lbs and the monochrome green screen was only about 6" big. It was more like a suitcase full of rocks than a portable computer !!!

Those are some cool relics. Most people would have dumped them by now. That is awesome !!

OMG. I remember working in Radio Shack and seeing some of those come in for repair. Even then (mid 90's) I was fascinated by them......even more so now! :)

I just bought an Eee PC last night and it's smaller than the Tandy 600 and thousands of times more powerful. I'd love to see where things end up 100-200 years from now (assuming we haven't blown ourselves apart yet). ;)

I didn't even know notebooks were around in 1985. Those are in better shape than my 2 month old notebook, nice.

I forgot about those! I had a kaypro II I think, although your description sounds just like the one I had. I actually used to game on that thing when I was a kid. My dad gave it to us.

I haven't used either for some time. Last time I used the Tandy was maybe 6 years ago... haven't since.

My first computer was a Radio Shack Color Computer:
    http://oldcomputers.net/coco.html
Hooked it up to my TV and used a cassette player for storage. Wrote my master's thesis on it!

My first laptop was a Kaypro 2000:
    http://oldcomputers.net/kaypro2000.html
It was way cool back then. Built in floppy drive! (no hard drive). Monochrome screen. The removable keyboard was quite innovative as was the rubber "bumper" around the outside of the unit and the pop out carrying handle.

This is the Kaypro 2 that I worked on back in the day.

It was quite a switch from my Atari 800 with the cassette drive.
