I just got a 2.0 core 2 on my laptop and during intense gaming sessions it will get up to 176F ... is this too hot or not?

I used to have the 1.5 core 2 and it never got this hot ... 160 at the most.

That's getting pretty hot for a processor.
How hot is your graphics card getting?

My grpahics card is actually running around 60c ... so 10c degrees cooler than it used to ... and I'm on the same clock speeds as before.

Usually it's the graphics card that gets hotter than the processor.
80C (176F) isn't outside the limits of what the processor can handle, but you might want to consider getting a cooling pad for it for while you game.

It may be the CPU that just runs hotter ... at idle it runs cooler. In max battery mode it idles around 105-110 and my 1.5 was not that cool. I have arctic silver coming this week so I will have to give that a try.
