I wanted to reformat the Vista partition and install XP, but I ended up with a message "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer".
There obviously is a hard drive otherwise it wouldn't boot into Vista.
So I put in my Ultimate boot CD 403 and it didn't find a hard drive either.
I put in my wifes Vista home premium and start it manually, when I get to the section to choose the partition I see there are 3,
Disk0 Partition 2 Recovery
Disk0 Partition 3 Windows OS
Disk0 Partition 4 Media direct
Where is the Diagnostic partition? I imagine that would be Partition 1, but it does not show up, and does it have anything to do with XP not recognizing the hard drive? (fujitsu 160Gb 7200rpm)
If I want to install XP will I have to do a low level format on the drive?
Thanks!

You need the SATA drivers for Windows to recognise your drive upon installation.

you need to install this driver when it asks you to press f6 to install raid drivers
