I just got my 1720 yesterday. How do I use the side scroll things on my touchpad?

Do you also have a mouse connected? If so, there is a setting that turns the touchpad off when it detects a mouse. Maybe that is set?

Ok. Try this. Go into Control Panel and select Mouse. You should have a tab titled Dell Touchpad. Select that tab and then click somewhere on the tab to open the Dell Touchpad software. Click on Scroll Settings and see of the Scrolling is enabled.

I see no "Touchpad" tab. I want to Control Panel> Mouse Properties > Hardware>

    It says PS/2 Compatible Mouse

Go to Dell Support site and download the touchpad drivers. That should probably do it.
