Can anyone explain why the touchpad on the 1720 is substantially offset from center compared to the 1520. I've also noticed this with other brands of 17 inch laptops and was wondering if there is a reason and if it will cause difficulty in use compared to the 1520.

they have a numpad....touchpads are ususally centered with the keyboard, but addition of numpad moves everything to the left a little bit. It's not harder to use or anything.

if it was more centered you would end up putting your hand over it while writing

Thanks for the replies, it makes sense considering the keypad.

It will be difficult to use only when you put it on ur lap. Otherwise, there should be no problem with the keyboard.
