    1720 screen goes blank when i plug in vga ??

    hello folks

    i have no idea whats caused this. but the other day i took my laptop to a mates, came back and plugged the vga cable back in for my hdtv, and it booted up n went blank screen

    now i cant seem to get it to work on the telly, if i plug the vga cable in...the laptop screen goes blank,and nothing on the tv, unplug it and the screen comes back on

    ive completly uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers etc with no joy,its totaly baffled me ???

    Have you tried F8 while it is plugged in to the TV?

    Is Dell Quickset installed? I would install Dell quickset and play around with FN F8like JTO said.

    It's possible that vga won't work on your TV and the computer is sending the signal out the VGA port but the TV can't display it.

    Do you have a monitor you can try this on?

    f8 doesnt do anything ?

    the vga on the tv does work and have never had a problem with it before ever ? im baffled why the laptop screen also goes blank when i plug the vga cable in ? its never done that before
