Does anyone know for sure if the chassis can be cut away like the 1505 to install a different card (7900GTX/7950GTX)? I know they changed the model's layout but I wanted to know if there is any chance of fitting a card (and yes, I'm aware of Dell and their proprietary setups).

I was told by the Dell representative that sold me the 1720 that the 8600M GT in there was GDDR3 and I come to find it's GDDR2. Is there anything I can do about that either?

Dells can normally be upgraded to the best card that is offered with the laptop. So for the 1720, it's the 8600m GT.
