    Hey Everyone,

Reformatted this new 1720 for someone since it infected with a trojan, ended up getting vista back installed and can't seem to get the wireless working.

The internet works with a ethernet cable, but dont think I have the necessary software to even search for a network to connect to.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where exactly i can get it, and what it's exact name is? Thanks

I've checked Dells Driver lists, but I don't know which ones I need.

Out of curiosity, are you sure the hardware is on and that the switch on the left hand side is not turned off?

There are a few cards possible for this laptop, you first need to identify which one you have.

I suggest you go to Dell Support and with the Service Tag you will be able to view what's been originally purchased (parts) so that you can identify what WNIC you have.

    Good luck.

I've also had to reformat my dell notebook, and had the same problem with my wireless. It's pretty easy to solve though. I just went to dell.com (download section) and typed in my service number from the sticker on the bottom. It gave me a nice list of drivers, and I found the network driver I needed for my wireless really quick.
