How have people who've ordered the upgraded (1920 x 1200) screen on the Inspiron 1720 enjoyed it? I'd be particularly interested to hear how it's working out for gamers- I'd love to get such a high resolution, but not if it's too much for the GPU to handle. Thanks!

I'm not a gamer, but I have the WUXGA screen on my 17" M90 (I believe all the dell 17" use the same screens), and I find it to be absolutely gorgeous.
    The darks are real dark.

I'm a gamer and have the 1720 WUXGA 1920x1200 screen. I play EverQuest II at max settings and it looks and performs beautifully.

That's not to say other games won't have issues. I downloaded a bunch of game demos and had mixed results with performance. Of course, a demo is hardly optimized code, so you can't really go by that.

Neverwinter Nights 2 runs well if I lower the resolution, or lower some of the settings at max res. But it seems to be less smooth than EQ2 (which amazes me because EQ2 looks so much nicer in my opinion)

Second Life looks and runs great at max settings, which I'm very happy about because it barely ran at all on my last laptop (Inspiron 8600 - 15", 128MB ATI Radeon 9600 card)

So bottom line: It's a mixed bag, but when it runs well, it looks AMAZING! Also, I suggest setting the graphics card to not stretch the resolution to fit the screen. In other words, if I play a game that I need to lower the resolution to 1024x768, instead of it filling the whole screen, it will run at a true 1024x768 with black around the edges. This works better since the system doesn't have to stretch the graphics, and it looks way crisper since the stretching distorts everything.

    Just my $0.02.

Ya it really is awesome. With the 256mb gefore 8600, I was able to play Half-Life2 with max settings ate the highest resolution (1920x1200) and never have any slowdowns. Once you start turning on AA, things slow down a bit, but at that resolution, I didn't even notice a difference between it on and off.

I have the same problem!! ordered at 09/07 and i'll have it at least 13/08.

About the screen.. I saw some screen shots of it (don't remember where), and 1920*1200 is sooo nice! So many space too, and games will be great on it!
