I have a 1720, and I bought a Dell remote which I can not get working. I tore down the computer to verify that I have an IR board, which I do. I have done some research, and have seen mentions of having to enable the IR in the BIOS, but I do not see an option for that. I have A09 with windows 7 ultimate x64.

    Any ideas?

So it turns out I am pretty much a retard. I checked to see if the remote was working, just pointed it at the camera on my phone to see if I could see the IR flashing, and there was none. Got a new battery, retested the remote and now saw a flash. Since I was waiting on parts to come in, I had to wait to put everything back together, but it is now all together, and the remote works straight away. Good thing I took the computer apart though, had a lot of lint covering the vent fans, plus it gave me a chance to swap to a X9000.
