This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     1720 EIDE vs SATA

    It's been mentioned in a few threads, but I wanted to confirm that the "order confirmation" email from Dell that lists some 1720s with "250gb 5400 rpm EIDE" hard drives is in fact a typo. I spoke to about Dell Rep about Item #NN655, which corresponds to the hard drive in my Order Status, and it is actually a 250gb 5400 rpm SATA drive.

    Hope this clears up any confusion that people may have had. I searched for a definitive answer on the forums and didn't find one, but sorry if this is old news.

    thats interesting I intentionally ignored all outlet computers with the EIDE drives. I assumed that it was correct and they were original systems that had a much older motherboard
