1720/1721's Sent?

This might be a question for a different thread, but I thought I'd throw it out here....

Does anyone know if the Built NY 15.4-inch Widescreen - 17-inch Laptop Sleeve's fit the 1720's?

There isn't much out there for the 17 inch machines, and reviews have been mixed as to fit. Would like to know if anyone that has received their 1720 has also ordered a sleeve.

 

Good news! My black one arrived today. Well, it was attempted delivery (I was at work of course) I called DHL and will be picking it up in about an hour. Woohoo!!!!

I was a bit disappointed that there were no carry case options for the 1720 when I ordered. The 9300 I got came with a dell backpack which is really handy.

 

A quick question... how is yours being shipped? Is it overnight? and if it is, is the overnight shipping a Dell upgrade for having customer service issues?

 

I got just regular 3-5 day shipping. I didn't get any upgrades because I didn't have any Dell customer service issues.

 

And I just got my tracking number, it's shipped out via DHL Ground, should be here Saturday.

 

I was upgraded to overnight the first time I was delayed. When I reordered w/ the black they brought over the next day shipping and i did get it the day after it shipped.

 

congrats coolsax... it's nice to see people getting theirs who have been waiting so long. I can't even imagine... mine is still in the build stage and I have no idea if there were delays when I ordered it because I didn't really check until Monday... I don't think there were delays... but they happened so quickly it's hard to tell...

 

Got delayed, still in build. Now it's a competition between the vostro and the inspiron...

 

As long as they don't go at exactly the same time! Hopefully your 1720 will go soon though... It seems like they're catching up and sending a lot that were supposed to have the 8/28 ESD, at least for the 1720. Has anyone else ordered Yellow and gotten theirs yet?

Initially, I wanted to order the white Laptop, but on July 11th the white color was the only color, which would have cause delays. For any other color their was no delay notice.

I hate that DELL waited up to the ESD and than lets you know that the shipment has been put back.

Did anyone get the 1720, yet other than the black once?

 

I never had the status of "BUILD"
My status is "PRODUCTION" since july 13th.

ordered my 1721 on july 23, first est ship 8/6, second est ship per email 8/28. Still in production since day 2. Called Dell to inquire, was on hold for 3 1/2 hrs., hung up (lol,I do have a life), wrote email to cust service, received no reply(7 days ago).

That's insane... 3.5 hours and they can't even connect you to a CSR? wow... Some of the 1720's that have been re-ordered with different specs have been being shipped... Hopefully you'll get yours soon...

 

Has anyone that ordered a 1720 in Blue with the specs in my sig received it yet. I have seen a few posts of people that ordered 1720's with the same config as mime but with a different color and they have them already. Just want to know when I shoud go ballistic.

you have to call a number to see exactly what phase of production you are in
we are basically in the same boat, only that i ordered 12 days later than you did

 

So that means I should be going ballistic since someone who ordered a week and a half after me, got the same computer with the exception of one less hard drive?...anyways looks like we have pretty similar set up just different colors, I don't think the colors are as much of a problem anymore...

i m ready to get more stuff from dell tomorrow, as my ESD is tomorrow and my comp is still in build

 

JT, i think its a combination of delays
any kind of delay you can ever think of, maybe even the enter key from the keyboard, according to some dell rep

I know, I have waited this long and I plan to wait unitl I get it. I know there are a lot of other people who are in a bind because of college and travel. I just can't figure out how these things get built. Feels like a lottery.

 

I never knew the work "build" could carry so much damage ...and yes this does feel like a lottery...

 

well...theres a pattern
first of all
from mid july to early august, everything besides black 1520 are delayed.
then early august to now, a large number of coloured 1520 and white/black 1720 are shipped.
so i guess what happens next is...hopefully, our coloured 1720

Looks like you and I order the same config execpt you choose red. We even ordered on the same day. Should be fun to see which color gets shipped first.

 

We can only hope so phil...and flafalcon I hope my computer comes first(these delays have turned me ruthless)...haha

 

So lets just hope that August 28th is the final date and that everyone of us gets his/her laptop on 08/28. If freak out if not

Coolsax98 looks to be the only one according to the list in who has waited the longest... but it seems like none of the 1720/1721's on the list have gone out... I think a few more people cancelled and it hasn't been updated for the 1720/1721 orders, but the rest have been updated... Mine will be here either saturday or monday. No delays for me at all, I was stoked. I feel bad for all those people stuck in order limbo, but I think I got damn lucky.

 

Just called the order status line & about fell out of my chair when I heard the word "BOXING". Its been a long 6 weeks....

 

For some reasons customers who ordered the Jet Black color do not experience big time delays. I ordered on July 11th

 

I am writing from my new 1720!!! It arrived this morning via DHL around 10 am! I was upgraded to free next business day delivery.

I couldn't be happier!!

My new white 1720 was in build 8/16 (when I ordered it), testing 8/17, and boxing as of 3am this morning.

 

i think when dell has the material they can do things fairly quickly

 

My new white 1721 that I ordered on 8/16 is now in Boxing also! Hopefully they will not stay in the "Boxing Loop" too long. I am hoping for it to ship on Monday!!

Hey guys. I just have a question. All those who got their order cancelled, what happends to the money you paid? Because i ordered a 1721 and 4 days later it got cancelled. Now the money is in "pending" status at the bank. Does that has anithing to do with dell? I ask because my friend is buying it for me cuz i live in Dominican Republic.

My midnight Blue 1720 was shipped yesterday, and today it was delivered by DHL. In fact, I am writting this post from my new Dell 1720

So happy.

I need a second laptop. I just configurated the new one and the estimated shipping date is september 26th. Therefore, I did not order. I will try the Vaio.

DHL just tried to deliver my laptop, but since I'm stuck at work I have no laptop. The customer service rep from DHL said he'd deliver it tomorrow.
