Hey, I have a few questions:

    1. I have read that currently shipping E1705 WUXGA screens seem to be the better/brighter LG models. Is this true? ie, will I get an LG screen, or is it luck of the draw?

    2. I may just get an E1505 instead. Can the 256MB X1400 play the following games: BF1942 and GTR? I play these games fine on my desktop with a FireGL V3200 128MB card, which, I believe is X600 based, however, I'm going to sell the desktop off. If I get the E1705, I'd get the 7900GS, so it would be moot, but, I kinda don't want a 17".

    3. I'm from the Apple world, where we obsess and pull hair over upcoming revisions to the lineup. Are there any known or rumored revisions to the lineup between now and the end of the year?

    4. Any known issues with E1705 or E1505? For instance, my last Dell, Inspiron 5150, was known for overheating and catastrophic motherboard failure induced from frame flex. It was also a Pentium 4, though, so, it was flawed from the get go... P4... good riddance!

Dell is like Apple, they have little roadblocks within each model that makes the decision kinda tortured. The E1705 is just too big, but has 7900GS and DVI out. The E1505 is a better size, but no X1600 (or 7900GS) or DVI out.

They are cheap though... Which is :) and :( .

The x1400 will have no trouble with those games.

e1705 is better built than e1505 (uses metal components instead of plastic on places like LCD lid and others). e1705 also has better built-in speakers and a couple of extra USB ports. Both are good laptops however (especially for the price)

Yep, my LG is better than my old Samsung. IMHO Dell needs more screen options ASAP. I would frag for a 1400x 900 TL screen with the same Apple or Sony quality. You have 21 days to love it or leave it. It's a toss on which screen you will get but you can check your order when you get your service tag posted at Dell.
