No more 1440x900 upgrade option, instead, Dell offer 1680x1050 as a $50 upgrade. This is a good deal as this option used to be at least $100 more than the standard 1280x800 resolution screen. My question is whether the screen quality is still sharp if I change the 1680x1050 resolution to 1440x900 (I assume there is such an option in the display control panel). 1680x1050 on 15.4" screen is too small for me in regular web browsing and word processing.

You should get used to 1680x1050 in no time. 1440x900 won't be as sharp but it's not that bad. A bit blurry on mine but okay otherwise. You can remove scaling and have black bars, and it will be as sharp but not full screen

I have the 1680x1050 screen and i think its great...It's really clear. It is kind of small, but you get used to it. I checked and there isnt an option to switch it to 1440x900...the closest to that i think is 1400x1050 or 1600x900, but they don't look good at all

Thank you very much for all the valuable opinion. Looks like I probably will wait until 1440x900 option is back.
