I am planning to buy a 160gb hard drive for my M1210. Will Windows XP Pro SP2 recognize the whole 160gb or is there a lower limit?

As long as you format it with NTFS you'll be fine.

I actually prefer to cut a small partition for XP like 10-15GB, then stick the rest into an extended partition. That way you can wipe the C partition, without losing the data on the other partition.
