Hey everyone, just got my 15r S.E. and i wanted to go through and get rid of some of the bloatware. Problem is, I'm new to this and am not sure what's safe to get rid of. I was hoping someone could maybe give me an idea of what I should get rid of. I appreciate the help, thanks.

If you really want to get rid of bloatware just do a clean install.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Wolf. I have to admit to being pretty unknowledgable aout PCs. I would need to reformat m drive AND have a disc copy of Windows, yes? I ask because my 15r shipped with Windows already installed (aong with the rest of the crap), but no Windows disc. Do you know if Dell will provide one?

Don't reformat your hard drive yet. You need to make a backup recovery disc from the Dell Local Backup program preinstalled into your system.

Although I think the recovery discs that you make from the Dell Local Backup program contains the factory image bloatware which I believe you are trying to get rid of.

Here is the link to download the Windows 7 - 64 Bit Home Premium ISO and you can burn a DVD and perform a clean install.

I came here because I have also bought a 15R SE and seeing that it ridden with an awful amount of bloatwares and there's no supplied Windows installation disk is kinda awkward and insulting. It kinda like buying a Ferrari that is covered with **** on delivery.

My last Dell purchase wasn't like that.

how's that link above work? Wouldn't it need a cd key or something?

You can use the key thats on your dell machine.

If you want to save yourself a call to Microsoft to reactivate, check out this link. How to Reinstall Windows Without Having to Reactivate - How-To Geek

If you dont' mind calling microsoft, just use your key and microsoft will give you an activation code.

Yeah but that's the thing, I know that usually there's a key under the laptop, my last laptop has it. This new one just have the service tag.

EDIT: oh snap never mind, I found it. inside the battery enclosure.

    Thanks a lot!
