I recently did a fresh install of the Win 7 on 1558.
My audio on the bottom right icon tray comes as a cross and it when ever I boot up. If I troubleshoot it says install the IDT audio driver and it will solve it. An yes the cross goes away but come back with the next boot of Windows. I have downloaded the lates driver with is file R261324 from Dell website and shows rev A18 during the install. Btw, I have the high def premium sound as well so not sure if there is any conflict. Although I see the IDT High def is OK as can bee seen on attachment. I get error 39 for the issue when I click to check info on it.

It worked perfectly fine with Windows & that came installed on it but this problem is really become an issue. Any help is appreciated.

OK I did another fresh install of Win 7 and followed the driver order and it seems the issue if fixed. I have not installed the Creative X-Fi either due to be bad reviews, that may have been the culprit. Also there is a driver for the Creative X-Fi in the dell download but it is ONLY needed when you upgrade from Vista to Win7 and I remember installing it. But I did not upgrade so I am thinking that may have been an issue as well.

Anyways it looks I am good to go although it is just a couple of hours after the re-install of Win7 for me.
