i was on the phone w/dell for hours trying to solve this problem, and he said it's my windows 7; i need to do a pc restore. it's not even a year old, and i don't buy this. there must be a relatively simple fix. i am no laptop expert, but this is getting annoying. i can eject by going to 'my computer', and rt. click to eject. dell should fix this, but they claim it's software and they won't touch it w/out me forking over more cash. i am so sorry i bought this computer because of the awful service from dell.

also, any idea why, when i click on the dell manual, it's for xp or vista, but not for windows 7? how does a rookie go about updating the dell 1555 manual for windows 7? and how the heck can i get my eject button to work?
thanks so much. i appreciate any help

Are you talking about the physical eject button on the keyboard? You can also right click on the optical drive and select eject. There's also a chance your optical drive is defective...it's a slot loaded drive.

Okay so it looks like your optical drive works if you can eject it through My Computer. You may just need to replace your keyboard to get the eject key to work.

The SM for your Studio 1555. Just order an OEM keyboard off Ebay, replacing the keyboard should take no more than 5 minutes or you aren't doing it right.

try the eject key in the bios and check whether there it works or not
if yes then just update the dell quickset and the issue will be sure fixed
but if the eject key doesnt ejects the disc on bios that means the keyboard key has an issue with it
u need to get the keyboard replaced!
