    Hi,

Finally, I've ordered my very own 1555 today :D

I've spent all my budget on upgrades so I've left the colour in standard black chainlink. Been googling for some photos, I actually love the glossy black lit with the little chainlink patterns on. But what I don't like, in fact, REALLY don't like, is the fact that they've added the pattern in GREY on the palmrest inside?!

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/dellphotos/3461989724/

I downloaded the largest photo and zoomed in. YUK! Still, it wasn't a very good photo so perhaps it's not doing it justice...

Has anyone got this colour? Would you mind uploading some photos here? What do you think? Can I buy something to mask it? Or shall I quickly call Dell back to change the colour and pay them another £30

This is a real dampener to my beautiful experience.... delivery date: 22/08/09 :D

it's not bad. I mean... the inside palm rest you dont even notice... It's there... but whatever.. the worst is the outside lid... finger prints and all.... Overall though.. the computer looks fine. I wouldn't worry about it. I dont have pictures now, but It's just a minor thing... it won't change how the computer runs.

Don't worry about it, I don't even notice it.

The finger prints on the lid do get to me though, haha. Have to wipe them off every so often.

Thank you for your comforting words.... if somebody would be kind enough to post a couple of photos, I'd be so grateful.

About the fingerprint marks, are there special cloths for it? Do you have to use some sort of cleaning solution with it? If so, is it harmful to the gloss etc?

As you can gather, this is my 1st ever laptop...

microfiber cloth will clean exceptionally well without scratching. you may already have one from other stuff, like glasses, and that should work fine. Just make sure that itself is clean.

Thank you so much for the photo. The 1555 is indeed beautiful! I take it you have the black chainlink? I can't really see the the pattern of the palmrest though? Would you mind posting a close(R) up?

Okay. Microfibre cloth it is. Where can I buy your breath Sonarav LOL? ;)

Note that this is a Macro shot with my camera, so it is picking up more detail than normal. The chain link is the most noticeable when looking straight on. It is much less noticeable from an angle. I had actually forgotten the pattern was on the palm rest until I took the pictures.

Thank you soooo much for the close-ups Sonarav. Phew they don't actually look TOO bad. Especially when you say that you've totally forgotten about them, they must be quite subtle.

I agree utprabh. His does look immaculate! But his is only 11 days old though...lol

No problem, glad I could help :)
Yeah, it's not too bad, but I'd say most of the scratches or marks are in that same area (the black area surrounding the keyboard).
    No problem :)

The chainlink isn't bad. Besides... you focus on the screen... not the palm rest :p

I would prefer the chainlink design. After taking a look at a model at bestbuy with it I thought it was neat. I wanted edge to edge so I picked midnight blue which didn't come with chainlink palmrest. It was plain so I did this :)

Its a vinyl cutout that I stuck on there. Its pretty neat how it turned out. Surprisingly when viewed from an angle it is blended in with the glossy reflection of the palmrest so you won't be able to tell. But if you look direcly from above its very white and visible.

Very cool. Anyway you can post a picture of your edge-to-edge display? I was curious about this, couldn't find very many pictures so I stuck with the regular option.

Once I found out about the chainlink design, I actually canceled my Laptop. I've been reading that it's a fingerprint/scratch magnet, and I really didn't like the design on it. I changed my order to Midnight blue, which looks really good.
