new here. i just bought a 1535 backlit keyboard. the ebay add said it was part #kr766. when i received it it is actually the backlit keyboard for the new 1555. part #nsk-dcm01. just wondering if this will work on the 1535. i see that the media buttons are now on the keyboard itself for the 1555. any help would be appreciated. if it turns out to be non compatible i guess i have a keyboard to sell. thanks

The keyboard connections are physically identical. The 1555's keyboard should fit in the 1535's frame and cable slots. The only way to find out if it will work is to try it, though.

For the record, you can get the correct keyboard for the 1535/1537 at http://resaleremarketing.net/ or http://parts-people.com/

They're my top places for Dell laptop parts, and I bought a backlit KB for my old 1535 from resaleremarketing. It worked great.

yea i was on parts-people, they only had grade b keyboards. just wanted a new one, found it on ebay and went with that. but my luck i was sent the wrong one. i was just wondering how the media functions would work. the brightness controls are also moved. didnt want to screw something up by trying the 1555 keyboard.

I'm assuming the keys would function identically to those on the 1535, rather than according to what they're labeled.

I'm fairly certain resaleremarketing still has new 1535 keyboards, that's where I got my old one.
