I have no idea why the fan is sometimes working even when the machine is completely idle. I have live mail, IM, Symantec anti-virus, acrobat(not doing any thing, just a pdf opened) opened and lock the computer.
Then I noticed that the fan works about every twenty minutes.
    Is this normal?

And the Intel wifi 5100 card is causing a lot of heat  ... sometimes I cannot even touch the touchpad. Anyone have similar problems?

Download HWMonitor and post up your computer's temperatures.

Yeah, it's normal. There needs to be some airflow over the heatsink every once in a while, even if the computer is idle.

Not being able to touch the touchpad sounds like a grave issue however. Return the laptop ASAP.

poor or little contact between you CPU the thermal paste or pad touching with you heat sink. Its supposed to be in nice firm full contact, some may have separated. So heat is not transfering from the CPU to the heat sink (radiator) to be blow out by the fan. Hence runs hot.

This is the HW monitor and Everest screen shot.

    Ice Cold,
Is it possible that daily transportation in my backpack caused the poor contact between cpu and thermal paste or touchpad touching the heat sink?

Looks like the contact between the CPU and heatsink is alright.. at least from where I am, the temperatures all look quite decent.

So does anyone feel a strong difference in the temperature of the touchpad and palm rest?

I can feel warmth on it, especially on the left side where the hard drive is. You said it got too hot to touch, which is ridiculous, so you should send it in under warranty ASAP.
