The monitor connector has the screw in but there is no hole to screw into the laptop ? It will attach, but if I bump the connector it falls out ? Why does it not have a place to screw this in ?

It takes some real bumping to dislodge the VGA cable from the laptop while it is stationary, although moving it without realizing will easily dislodge it.

Thank you for replying. I just was really surprised that it does not have the holes to screw the thing into. I have been able to dislodge it very easily, so I guess I will have to be more careful lol

Well after I believe the E1x05 chassis is when they eliminated the screw holes for the VGA on the Inspiron line as my E1405 has screw holes for the VGA port, but my Vostro 1500 (Inspiron 1520) does not have the screw holes. I guess people thought it was visually unappealing? Hrm well it also depends on the VGA cable, I never screw up the VGA cable when I am running diagnostics on a desktop at work, the only time it comes out is when I accidentally move the desktop and it gets caught.

Im sure it was done for cosmetic reasons and it looks like many laptops have done the same. I haven't screwed in a vga cable in years and haven't had any issues. I guess it could depend on how tight the cable is.
