    1537 how noisy is your hd?

    My 1537 makes a wooshing noise directly from where the HD is located, that sounds like a fan on low. Its not overly distracting, but not silent.

    Its not the main cooling fan, as i can see this is stationary if you look though the vents.

    I have the 5400rpm 320gb drive, Is this normal?

    mine also makes this noise, but I have to put my ear to the palmrest to hear it. It is spinning at 5400 rpm, so it will make some noise. A wooden surface may act as an amplifier to the sound - you may be hearing it through that.

    I am sitting up in bed with the laptop balanced on my knees and I cannot hear the sound of the hard drive, but I can hear the fan on low rpm occasionally (vent is not blocked)

    Yeah, I have it too. I have the Hitachi btw. Which one do you have?
