With the new pics and some specs recently leaked, I'm curious to see what you guys think about the upcoming Inspirons. I will be in the market for a new laptop soon and the 1535 would be a great choice.

What are your thoughts about the new Dells? Anyone think they will be out by the end of May like some sources state?

I think the new inspirons look a lot better than the old ones. As long as they keep the XPS's around with the higher end processors, video cards, build quality, materials, etc. But the new inspirons look like solid budget laptops.

well the new comps look SWEET but they wont have dedicated video cards afaik dell is only going to be using integrated graphics and leaving the video cards out only for their the xps line...

What will be out at the end of May is the Inspiron Line. THis line is for the average home user that surfs the web, watches a movie, and rarely plays games.

IF you notice all of the Inspirons have a Intel integrated chipset. No Nvidia anything. So, unless Dell is planning to drop the M1530 and replace it with an Inspiron line? I wouldn't hold my breath for the new Inspiron.
This is of course, if your looking for a gaming machine.

They don't seem to have the higher end processors either.
Not if the 1525 is any indication.
    You can't get a T9300 or T9500.

If the 1535 uses the Montevina platform, it'll probably have Displayport instead of VGA.

I doubt that they would rush a bleeding edge display connector standard into a budget laptop that quick.

I would bet that we'd see a displayport connector on an xps Montevina refresh.

I cant imagine Dell getting rid of dedicated gpus in the Inspiron line. Im almost certain they will have similar configs like the 1520s hopefully with the option of the 9500M, a refresh of the 8600GT.

I just hope all their new laptops will have HDMIs and the option of LEDs, an option many users like me will want. I'm still optimistic about the release date, a late May release would be great.

Dell did get rid of the dedicated graphics card on the Inspiron 1525 which replaced the 1520, because they wanted to gear the XPS line toward users who need the dedicated graphics card option. Dell discontinued the Inspiron 1520 with the NVIDIA card a few months ago, and they now only offer it to users looking for Windows XP. I doubt we'll see a dedicated option on the Inspiron 1535, sadly.

I was kinda pissed off when I saw the new inspiron line because I just bought my m1530 and I think the new refresh looks better. If it doesn't have a dedicated graphics solution, then I guess I won't be mad.

if dell is really cancelling its xps line of laptops, then the inspiron 1535 is serious material..perhaps dell will then give it dedicated graphics card...

They arn't. Dell has already responded that the WSJ has made a mistake. They have no plans on doing so. The inspiron line will most likely not get a dedicated graphics card and even if it does, it would be DDR2 most likely and the XPS laptop will always have the higher processor options and gfx.

Dell seems to be one of the few companies, along with ATI, that are even beginning to offer any sort of Display Port connectivity (in the Ultrasharp 2408 and 3008).

It would make sense that Dell would be beginning to push the new standard, and what better way to do it then with their budget, high-selling laptops?
