So I got my 1530 today and so psyched!!! First thing I do outa the box is inspect for scratches and such...no issues. Then I notice the little plastic piece on the left of the
"XPS" lettering (grey) is sticking up...oh well. The CS walked me thru reassembling the plastic piece and come to find out the tabs holding it in place are completely borken!!!
After a power up, I notice the screen has a HUGE white splotch on the left with a hard indent...now I'm pissed. I call Dell and explain, they said they would send a tech next week with a new screen and I am compliant. Hours later I take a peek at the bottom of the lappy and notice scratches by the RAM bay!!! Looks like "scribe" marks from assembly and now I am just pissed and about to buy a Macpro!!! In anycase, I called back and demanded the CS just replace the unit alltogether. I was OK with the screen replacement but with the scratches and broken tabs I feel a new replacement is in order.
Sorry for the broken paragraphs but just venting. I think this is an incredible machine but just want "perfect" machine as ordered, just like the previouse 6 I have owned from Dell every 8 months!!!
    Thx for you support!

See, don't sweat it, if it happens the second time then there will be a problem. Dell creates lots and lots of laptops at mass production, it is just unfortunate that you get one of the bad seeds that comes out every 10,000 units or so

I had my experience with dell. I know what you feel."been there done that".. ask for exchange and keep the one you have until you get the new one. if you don't want to. after they change your screen. call and complain about the other issue and get 100 $ credit. Also "been there done that".
it's a beautiful machine. but the people who are putting it togeather are careless and because the huge peoduction I don't think every laptop is being inspected.
    Good luck
