Anyone else have problems with the black plastic housing around the camera at the top of the 1530? Because the top has no lock, you kind of have to slip your fingers under the lid a bit to open it. Everytime I do this, the black plastic around the camera pops out.

Also, the touchpad is completely whacky. I've tried adjusting it but the cursor jumps and is virtually unusable.

Are these standard for the 1530 or should I request a fix?

The plastic at the top shouldn't do that.

As for the trackpad, it is complete rubbish on mine, though I am going to ring up Dell and get it replaced.

Tell them about both, if the service there is like it is in NZ, the on-site guy will just put in all the new parts, regardless of if it needs it, that way you will know if it's the norm for the M1530 or not.

    Thanks for the reply.

They're sending out a tech to replace the black plastic housing around the camera. It sounded to me like they knew about this problem because didn't argue with about it at all. I'm currently speaking to someone about the touchpad problem...

is the trackpad always wacky, or is it only when you first open up the lid?

my black plastic housing is loose too. I just noticed today. Also, the back of my laptop is pretty loose. I was closing it up today and tripped, and used the laptop to stay up. And when I slipped, the whole back of the lid completely flexed!!!

Is that normal? I would hope not....

It's always wacky. I'll be using it without a problem and then it will stall for 2-3 seconds and then start working again.

Call them and ask for them to send a tech out to fix it. It shouldn't be that way.

The frame around/over the webcam on my new M1530 bulges slightly in the middle (i.e. around the webcam).

Not sure if I can be bothered calling them up to get it fixed though. I think I'll give it a few more days to see if any other problems turn up.

I'm glad to hear the service in NZ is pretty good... I may be using it!

I have this same problem. Because the lid is somewhat stiff, a bit of upwards pressure on the silver piece in the middle of the lid edge pulls the lid away from the black plastic housing. Everything else works AWESOME (including an LG screen), so I really don't want to return it. What did you end up doing?
