My brand new 1530 clicks when I press on the front left of my open computer (to the left of the touchpad.) And I don't mean pressing very hard either. On inspecting it the front left of my laptop also looks like it's a little loose. I can even lift it up slightly with my fingernail. When I press on the edge it goes down a little bit. On the other hand the right side of my laptop is very solid and I can't lift the edge up at all.
Does anyone else have this issue? With all the money I just paid I don't want a computer with poor craftmanship. Since I couldn't find any threads with this issue I'm guessing it may just be mine.

I have the exact same problem and it's one of the reason's I'm exchanging mine in the hope I'll get one with better tolerances.
The problem is that due to the moving of all the ports to the side from the back, the hard drive was pushed to the front edge of the case. Because Dell foolishly decided to cheap out on the design by not having a solid plane on the bottom half for the palm rest to mate to, the result is that the palm rest has to meet up with the hard drive bay bezel which I'll wager is sticking out a tiny fraction of an inch on yours like mine. This allows the palm rest to slip behind the drive bezel, causing the cave-in and clicking sound.
Since the drive is fixed in position by the bay screws, it's not as if we can push our drives in farther to make these surfaces meet properly. Dell cursed their "premium performance" XPS line with a bone-headed design that is less sturdy than a budget laptop that isn't trying to mimic Apple's clean back plane. (Too bad that the cooling vent = fail) Add on their low-bid cruddy Samsuck screens and Dell's worst enemies are their bean-counting engineers and accountants. Penny wise, pound foolish. -
My M1530 is fine, although I can certainly believe that a certain number of M1530s have some workmanship problems. However, while exchanging laptops in order to get a good screen (I kept getting the grainy ones until my sixth try), I never noticed any problem with my replacements. (Other than the screens, of course.) I'm very satisfied with my M1530.

Thanks for your input guys. I called them up and they're sending me a replacement. At first they wanted to fix it but I asked if they'll just send me a new one. I am a little worried they'll send me a bad monitor (I have the LG now) but I know I'd be annoyed having this everytime I use it. I'm also worried that the makeup might even get worse.
The computer itself seems great though.
