I notice that the action of raising/lowering my screen often produces a small creaking noise, usually only upoun lowering the screen though. After examining this for a while I am pretty sure that the noise is coming from the small "XPS" logo panel on the back of the comp, specifically on the left side... It is far from a serious problem though I do find it gets rather irritating :(

Anybody have somthing similar, or a suggestion to fix it?

My 1530 didn't have any creaking as far as I could tell. Actually I thought it was built pretty well. When I picked it up it didn't feel as if I was going to bend anything.

Besides as your laptop gets older it's bound to change physically. The creaking could go away or could get worse.

Mine too creaks.. but only began once the damn tech replaced my samsuck with another samsuck. It's also heavily scratched on the right hinge. And they won't do anything to get it fixed either.

Push down on either sides of the speakers below the screen. I had creaking and I pressed down firmly on the left side and something snapped back into place and the creaking was gone.

Nope, my speakers are fine. I'm sure it's the case. And I think for me, It's because of something at the top of the case(where the webcam is)

Yes... I think that the XPS panel is loose on the left end.
