I've been looking at the upgraded "High Resolution glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050)" resolution...and i just stopped at Best Buy and saw an Asus GS1 for the first time...i have to admit i was a little shocked how small 1680x1050 is on a 15.4" monitor - for text at least. I was even more shocked that on that PC i could not seem to pick any other native widescreen modes that were smaller...
On a 1530 model with the 1680x1050 screen, will i be able to choose 1200x800 or 1440x900 modes for whatever suits my need at that time?

no, it would be blurry if you try to go down from the native resolution. However, you can change the DPI and make the fonts bigger so you can read. Also, the icons will be bigger ect. I personally preffered the middle 1440x900 resolution. However, the 1680x1050 was extremely sharp and crisp in terms of watching movies or playing video games on the laptop I returned

huh? i have a 24" dell monitor that goes up to 1900 x 1200, but if i choose a lower widescreen setting its not "blurry" it's just bigger...and of course i have the option to choose anything below that native resolution. I'm referring to my desktop which has an Nvidia 8800gtx video card.
1530 Screen resolution question...
