    Hi everyone,

Has anyone tried replacing the LCD on a 1530 for another resolution LCD? I'm wondering if it will work. So I'd just purchase a 1530 with the lower 1280x LCD and buy a higher LG one by myself and replace that. It would cost be an additional 100 bucks or so, but 100 is pretty good for avoiding the head ache.

Just wondering if the panels were interchangeable.

They should be... Dell does not make its own screens they like almost all manufacturers buy them from someone else. So the connections should be universal. I know they are on 17 inch screens but i'd love to find out if thats true on 15 inch as well. Keep me updated :)

...i *think* it would work...unless the motherboard has some additional circuitry to understand the increased resolution...

my m1530 was sent with the wrong resolution LCD (WXGA+). Dell sent a tech over and replaced it with the correct WSXGA+ LCD. It should work as long as you know how to change the LCD... :)

Sorry to sound daft, but would an increased resolution LCD require a different inverter?

that's the type of stuff i'm worried about.
like is there sufficient ic's in the lcd panel to tell the motherboard what the resolution is.
