Now I understand that these laptops run warm, but mine seems excessively hot. It's almost intollerable to keep it on my lap when I'm doing simple things like websurfing, or looking at pictures.

My question to you fine folks is, how do I test the temps? Is there a program I can use? Can I post my findings here for comparisons sake?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Download HWMonitor to show HDD/CPU/GPU temps. Just google it

Report back with your idle and load temps

Computer's still new so I don't think that's an issue, but I'll take another look anyways.

laptops arent really meant to be used on your lap anymore....they are powerful and get hotter and need better cooling....that is why they are referred to as notebooks now...well part of it anyway....they are meant to sit on a hard flat surface...not your lap...not carpet or anything like that that makes it harder for it to push the air out. i never use my 1530 on my lap....always on desk/table or something unless im watching a movie or something on a trip but thats not very strenuous on the system and on power saver mode it doesnt get hot.....hope that helps a bit
