This probably isn't a 1530 problem, but I not sure what else it could be, or where to post about it.

I've set up my Dell XPS on my View Sonic 19" Monitor. Max resolution 1280x1024.

Now obviously the Screen isn't as nice as my WXGA+ (1440 x 900)Dell Screen, but the difference is bothering me.

The Viewsonic Screen has a significant, and noticeable flicker. Changing Resolutions doesn't help much, and the refresh rate is at 75 hz.

Is this a issue, or am I missing something obvious?

I'm half gutted, because day to day, I rather have my "setup" as a workstation on the larger screen. The flicker bothers me enough, that it's not enjoyable anymore.

Sadly, I can't at the moment compare if my old system had the same flicker, and I just never cared, because I never knew any different. I hope this WXGA+ screen hasn't spoiled me now and I have to buy a new monitor!

What are you using to connect to the monitor? DVI? HDMI? VGA?

    I'm using the VGA cable.

My nineteen inch monitor comes with a DVI cable I beleive and a VGA cable.

The laptop comes with a VGA connection slot and a HDMI connection slot, no DVI that I know of.

Anyway way to get my monitor into the HDMI slot?

Excellent! I'll purchase one of those cables asap.

So this switch should improve the flicker?

Have you tried changing the refresh rate to 60Hz? Does that fix it? I'd try that first before spending money.

Not necessarily, have you tried to change your refresh rates as suggested above?

Umm, I'll give it a try, and see.

Sorry this was a few days ago, but from what I remember, increasing the refresh rate improved the flicker. Decreasing made it worse.

I'll wikipedia refresh rate now, and figure out what I'm talking about.
