So I decided to order a 1530 last Friday (6/6)- The specs are below:

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4GHz/800MHzFSB, 3M L2 Cache)
    Tuxedo Black
15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TrueLife LED LCD with Camera
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
    250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    Vista Home Premium 32 bit
    Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-card
    4GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
    Integrated High Definition Audio 2.0
Dell Wirless 355 Bluetooth Module (2.0+EDR)
    6 cell battery

Plus a 3 yr warranty w/ completecare and lojack... all for $1249.00 before tax, $1348 after tax (plus free next day shipping)

So the estimated ship date wasn't until 7/2 which is fine b/c I don't really need my computer until grad school starts in August. But the Rep I ordered from said I should expect it sooner even though the 6 cell battery is delayed.

So I call today to see what my status is, expecting it to be in build still- but its already in boxing!? Question: How long does boxing take? Does this just mean they have it all put together and are waiting for the battery or what? I almost feel guilty if I'll get it soon when I've been reading about so many other people that ordered their 1530's weeks ago and are still in the build phase...

Honestly I almost think this a mistake- I'll believe it when its shipped...

Mine's been in build for over two weeks.... I really think that must be a mistake. If it's not, then I have a big issue with Dell because that's just irritating.

You didn't order anything that was in high demand and I don't think Dell is having trouble keeping up with the LED screens yet so if all the parts are available, then there's no reason for the wait to be any longer; in fact, some have gotten their laptops shipped in under two days.

6-cell battery and its in boxing?????? Thats it, somebody get me a gun, I'm going over to Dell headquarters. How is it that people who ordered 2 weeks after me are ahead of me in their productions?????? The 6-cell battery shortage is total crap and clearly not the problem that Dell is having. I am dangerously close to cancelling my order.

I have the identical build as yours and I'm still building after three weeks. Its either an error or you are extremely lucky.

Not to add to everyones frusteration and hate. But I too ordered the same machine on friday morning about 10:00 am via the website and my machine is also in the "boxing" stage as of 3:00 pm MST. I have e-mailed Dell and sure enough it is correct. I wonder what the H$LL is going on. My next door neighbor has been waiting over 3 weeks for his........

I ordered a similar laptop on the same day, already in shipping as well. I have DHL tracking/etc.

UPDATE*: The package has already been shipped to the PA DHL hub. I'm in VA so hopefully ill have it by tomorrow.

I think this means that the 6 cell battery shortage is coming to an end. Or at least a short period of relief.

I ordered on 6/7 with no delayed parts and mine is in the boxing stage as of today. Still estimated to ship on the 19th. Don't see why it takes a week to box and get it out the door, but I guess they overestimate their times on purpose.

I ordered mine on 6/10 and I was surprised to hear that I'm already in the boxing stage. The automated system could be wrong *shrug* it still says that my ESD is still 6/25. I ordered a 9-cell battery by the way.

Even though mine is still in boxing at least I was able to get free next day shipping out of Dell, so I hopefully don't have to agonize too much in the shipping stage

hes probably just sayin his ESD is earlier than mine even though he ordered his later than mine and he has better specs. and saying how bad dell does their shipping/packing/building etc. order.
i dont mind the late ESD, but as long as i get it before the 10th.. and everything is running okay its fine with me. but ive seen alot of posts about how they have faulty hardware. so im worried i have to send it back to repair which will probably take another two months lol.

No I'm not complaining lol. I'm saying it's retarded that my ESD is before nodrog's but I ordered mine a week after him.

I think Dell should really reconsider and let people change their orders instead of making a new one to do a simple adjustment. I ordered mine on 6/12 ESD is 6/20 so no complaints so far.
