Looking for the tech gurus on here to give me the best viable answer to get me outta this mess.

My 1530 has been running XP with no errors PERFECTLY for a week.

I leave it on the side with lid open
My little boy presses the power button by accident.

    Now it wont boot :(

NTLDR is missing Press any key to restart is the error i get.
obviosuly ive googled this problem but i want to F@@k iff all that mediadirect crap and just have one partition with xp on it , at the minute is has mediadirect as well.

I have all the relevant boot CDs, XP CD, drivers etc etc
i dont wanna lose my info though as i have some photos i havent yet backed up

Please tell me if its possible to save my OS , delete the medidirect partition and get it booting xp as it was prior to this accident

    Thanks as always in advance

Easiest thing to do to fix the problem is to put the XP CD in the drive and choose the repair the current XP installation. Follow the instructions after you put the CD in and you should get it working again.

or use a program called ERD Commander - invaluable tool for bringing dead Windows installations back to life..... if you can get it.

Fixed this problem with great thanks to

meaCulpa - ill post the private mess he sent me just incase it helps anyone else

    Hi
    Try this...

Pressing the MD button twice should reset the primary partition & I guess, then pressing the power button should boot the OS...

I might be wrong so I did not want to post in public (and sound stupid) but it doesn't hurt to try such a simple step...

I have faced this problem as well. Do let me know if it worked,, then I will happy to post it in public forum.

If it works, great !!! else, oops

    As for Xp-Vista
I personally hate vista and love XP

Like people say, each to his own

    Cheers for all the help
