It appears to be from the right hand side of the laptop, if you listen from the bottum of the computer it is more audible.

You can hear it quite clearly in a dull room, but background noise blocks it out, its still a very frustrating sound and i'm not entirely sure what is causing it. It sounds almost electronical, not like a fan or anything, something amplified.

This is a known issue. Do a search.

    There's two types:

    1) CPU whining - can fix this with RightMark CPU Clock Utility (RMClock) [do a search

    2) Video card buzzing from my 8600GT. It happens with intense graphical activity. No fix that I know of.

So what do you do with RightMark to stop the whine?

I done a search, seems its quite common, now i know what i'm looking for. I guess Dell can't help me with this in technical support?

While removing the problem, RMClock makes the computer freeze if that c4 model is disabled. Does anyone know why it would do this, or how to fix it?
